Frequently Asked Questions
We will not give your name or any information about you to anyone outside of Kapella, unless someone’s personal safety is at risk.
Each session is up to an hour.
We won’t be able to do this for you, we will encourage you to ask them to come with you
No, you may want to explore why you are not in a relationship, or move on from the end of a relationship, a counsellor can explore your story and talk about the impact this is having on you.
Whilst we usually advise we are unable to offer a long-term intervention service, how many sessions our client’s access is established on a client-by-client basis.
This may be dependent on aspects such as:
- The service that you’re accessing
- The goals you have for therapy
- Client’s ongoing availability
- Whether a client has been referred by an external agency and is subject to any referral agreements
Of course, you can discuss all of this with the counsellor during your initial assessment..
We understand that attending counselling for the first time can feel overwhelming. Whilst they would be unable to join you in your session due to confidentiality policies, you are welcome to bring someone with you who can wait in our waiting room whilst you attend your session.
Similarly – we find that children and young people sometimes prefer for their parent/carer to join them for the first portion of their initial session. We would be happy to take your child’s guidance on this to ensure they feel comfortable meeting a counsellor for the first time.
Please note: To ensure the comfort, safety and wellbeing of all persons in our centres, we do ask that no children Under 16 are left unaccompanied in our building and/or waiting room(s).
